Metsäliitto Cooperative is the parent company of the Metsäliitto Group. It is owned by some 130,000 Finnish forest-owner members. Metsäliitto Cooperative focuses on converting wood supplied by its members and creating added value for its members and customers.
This Environmental Policy applies to Metsäliitto Cooperative and its subsidiary Metsämannut Oy. The business areas of Metsäliitto Cooperative are Wood Supply and the Wood Products Industry.
Metsäliitto Cooperative knows the origin of the wood it supplies and is familiar with the environmental aspects of wood supply and the wood products industry. The organisation aims to reduce the adverse environmental impacts of its activities and develops its operations according to the principles of sustainable development and continuous improvement.
Metsäliitto Cooperative complies with legislation and other regulations imposed by local authorities and expects the same from its partners. Metsäliitto also enhances both its own and its stakeholders’ environmental know-how.
Metsäliitto Cooperative interacts with its stakeholders and communicates honestly on its environmental issues, endeavouring to establish long term cooperation with reliable partners.
Metsäliitto Cooperative participates in research and development work and promotes the development and introduction of environmentally friendly technologies and ways of working. Environmental impacts are also assessed when considering company acquisitions and other investment projects.
Metsäliitto Cooperative has defined environmental objectives for Wood Supply and the Wood Products Industry, based on the environmental impacts and operating environments of each business area. Metsämannut Oy has defined environmental objectives of its own, based on this environmental policy.

• supporting forest certification adapted to local conditions
Wood Products Industry
• promoting the use of wood as a renewable building material
• knowing the environmental impacts of production processes
• taking environmental aspects into account in product development
• utilising by-products of production processes as raw material of other forest industry production lines or as biofuel
• sorting and utilising waste material efficiently
